AORN Mission AORN is the professional organization of perioperative registered nurses whose mission is to promote quality patient care by providing its members with education, standards, services, and representation. AORN represents more than 43,000 registered nurses who facilitate the management, teaching, and practice of perioperative nursing, or who are enrolled in nursing education or engaged in perioperative research. AORN's members participate in more than 340 chapters across the US and in Puerto Rico, 12 Specialty Assemblies, and 25 State Councils. The 340 local AORN chapters in the United States are the basic building blocks of the Association. Members are introduced to the activities and opportunities offered by AORN at the local chapter level. Networking, education, and leadership development are some of the benefits of being involved at the local chapter level.
