SEPTEMBER: Our first meeting was a planning meeting. We had good attendance and a lot of great ideas.
We will continue to sell OR TEAM Shirts. They are purple and on the back have the top 10 sayings in the OR. A picture will be posted soon. The cost is $15.00. $18.00 for 1-X and above.
Pines Dining Books are being sold. The cost is $15.00 and the books are good for one year now.
The Synthes Spinal Workshop is being postponed until the winter or spring. There is interest in the chapter also putting on a 1-day workshop with at least 6 topics and speakers. At this workshop, we would also like to have a vendor fair and possibly a silent auction. If you have a speaker in mind or you can donate an item to the silent auction, please let us know.
Some of our members are attending the CNOR preparation course in Austin the weekend of Sept. 20. We wish them the best in their upcoming preparation and study for this certification.
We have a lot of items for a Garage Sale. We need a date, a place and willing volunteers to help in this project. If you are willing to offer your garage, contact Donna Webb.
The Awards Committee is preparing submissions for the 2002-2003 year. We came in Second Place this past year for Continuing Education. We will submit in as many categories that we can. The plan for the upcoming year is to be able to submit in several more categories. We need your help in preparing for these submissions. If you would like to join one of these committees or head one up, please call Regina Petzold.
Perioperative Nurse week is fast approaching. We are checking out the possibility of setting up a table at the Longview Mall to present a theme on OR nursing and Patient Safety. We are also cecking on the availability of doing a display in the Longview Library. We will need volunteers for both of these projects. OR nursing needs more exposure if we want to attract future nurses.
We still need topics and speakers for some of our upcoming meetings. If you would like to present a topic or you know someone that would, let us know. We need an outline to prepare the objectives and evaluation process for CE credit.
There are a lot of opportunities for involvement. If you cannot make it to a meeting, maybe you could help with a newsletter, legislature committe, fundraising, Habitat for Humanity. We have 42 members in our chapter at this time. We look forward to seeing some more of you at future meetings and/or activities.
